PIV Authentication

To comply with the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12 and MCEN OPERATIONAL DIRECTIVE 0183-19), requiring federal departments and agencies to use strong authentication credentials, MLS2 will be updating your CLC2S, STRATIS, and TCPT accounts to utilize your 16-digit PIV Authentication certificate instead of the 10-digit EDIPI Email certificate.  The update will require you to use a different certificate, PIV Authentication certificate, when accessing the MLS2 systems. The PIV Authentication certificate is already installed on your CAC and will not require additional CAC changes.

Instructions

  1. Close your internet browser.

  2. Clear your SSL. Instruction for clearing SSL can be found at https://mls2support.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/2/article/90275842?src=1414685733

  3. Navigate back to the system you were using. CLC2S (https://clc2s.usmc.mil), STRATIS, or TCPT (https://tcpt.usmc.mil).

  4. You should be prompted to select a certificate on your CAC. Choose your 16-digit PIV certificate. It should look like the below.

If PIV is not available as a choice, do the following.

  1. Type “internet options” in the search at the bottom of your computer.

  2. When the Internet Options menu opens, select the Content tab, then click Certificates.

  3. Find and double-click on your Authentication certificate. If your certificates do not show a Friendly Name to help you identify which one is for Authentication, look at the Certificate intended purposes. The Authentication certificate will only list Smart Card Logon and Client Authentication.

  4. Select the Details tab; scroll down until you see Subject Alternative Name under the Field column, then select it. Towards the bottom of the menu, if you selected the correct certificate you will see your 16-digit PIV. If not go back to step 3 and select a different certificate.
